Bedford today is an active community, the large population combined with the small town feel makes for a really tight knit group of people. Bedford sports teams always have a huge amount of support, and mlive even rated Bedford's student section as the number one in the state. The town is a great place for small families that work in Toledo but do not want to live in the city.
One of the big things that happened in Bedford recently is a walk that Bedford student Hunter Gandee did to raise awareness for Cerebral Palsy. Hunter was a 15 year old Freshmen in High School when he decided that he would carry his 8 year old brother from Bedford High school to the University of Michigan, a whopping 57 miles. The younger brother Braden has cerebral palsy and Hunter felt that the best thing that he could do to help him is to raise awareness for his brother's disease. Hunter's walk received national attention from ESPN and ABC reporters.
